Cold Boot Instructions - 6220/6212
For a 6220/6212
Section 1: Reset HHC with clip & Press F4
1. At the top end of the HHC, insert the end of a paper clip into the small hole to the left of the connector. As you release this press the [F4] key.
· The system will automatically come up to the Norand Utilities screen.
2. Press [YES]
• At this time you should ensure that the wall charger and phone line are connected if you will be tcomming via a modem.
• Certain Paramaters will need to be established before communication may begin.
3. Press [9] to access Advanced Utilities
Section 2: Advanced Utilities Functions
Note: Advanced Utilities Functions include setting the date and time, verifying the battery status, formatting the hard drive and setting the boot drive. These processes are outlined in detail in the following section.
2.1 Set Date/Time
4. Press [1] to establish the correct HHC system date and time
5. Enter two-digit month and press [YES]
Enter two-digit day and press [YES]
Enter two-digit year and press [YES]
Enter two-digit hour and press [YES] {Military Time}
Enter two-digit minute and press [YES]
Enter two-digit second or (00) and press [YES]
• The system will return to the Advanced Utilities Menu.
2.2 Battery Status
6. Press [2] to check the Battery Status
• Verify that the Main Battery Voltage is around 6.8 or higher
• Verify that the Backup Voltage is at least 2.5
7. Press [NO]
2.3 Format Drive C:
8. Press [3] to format Ram/Hard Drive
9. Press [YES] two times
10. Press [YES]
11. Press [YES]
• The system will return to the initial Advanced Utilities Screen
2.4 Set Boot Drive
12. Press [5] to set the Boot Drive
13. Press [3] to select the C Drive
14. Press [NO] to return to the Communications Menu
Section 3: Communications Menu
Note: The Norand Utilities Communications Menu allows you to determine the type of communications (remote or local) to be used for downloading and uploading and if performing remote communications allows you to establish modem parameters and the phone number associated with this function.
3.1 Communications Setting
• Certain Parameters will need to be established before communications may begin.
15. Press [2] to establish communications settings.
• If communications is local, the default setting, RS485 should be maintained. Skip the following Sections and go directly to 1 - Begin Comm Session and skip the below procedures.
16. Press [2] to select Modem/Direct for Remote Communications.
17. Press [4] to establish the modem parameters.
• Note that once the Comm Setting has been modified to Modem/Direct, Option 4 is now visible on the Norand Utilities Communications Menu.
3.2 Establish Modem Parameters
18. Press [1] to select the Modem Type and using the arrow key scroll down to “Other External Modem”. Press yes.
• Hit right arrow key until you see an “A”. Hit Enter.
• Hit right arrow key until you see a “T”. Hit Enter.
• Hit right arrow key until you see a “M”. Hit Enter.
• Hit right arrow key until you see a “0 (zero)”. Hit Enter.
• Attach the modem and hit F2, If the string is set up correctly the HHC will give a result of “0”
19. Press 2 to select the Protocol and using the arrow key scroll to “TTY”. Press Yes.
20. Press 3 to select the BPS Rate and using the arrow key scroll to “9600”. Press Yes.
21. Press 4 to select the Data Format and using the arrow key scroll to “8N1”. Press Yes.
22. Press No
23. Press 5
24. Type the phone number in
25. Press Yes
26. Then Press 1 to begin Communication session.
